Mayhem Festival has served as the largest metal tour in the U.S. since 2008, and has has brought together fans from many different genres. However, many felt last year's lineup was lackluster, and all we wish for is better side stages that better represent the metal community as a whole. Having bands like King 810 and Texas Hippie Coalition doesn't represent the metal community, it exposes us to bands that revolves around a gimmick to sell records. Same with 2013 with bands like Butcher Babies, while ignoring bands buzzing around in the metal scene, such as Fallujah or Revocation. All we want is a good side stage lineup, sort of like what Knotfest is doing, booking extreme metal bands like Napalm Death and Immolation with bands like Hellyeah and Otep. Now that's variety.
