Hello everyone!! My name is Maya McGrew and I’d like to provide you with an explanation of why I hope to serve as one of your student senators. To start off, let me introduce myself. I am a freshman here at IWU and a double major in psychology and interdisciplinary educational studies. Throughout high school I held multiple leadership positions in numerous clubs and school programs that tailored to my personal interests. For example, I was the treasurer of Interact club, president of a diversity club called “Allies in Diversity,” and the co-founder of Pre-Med club. Additionally, I was given the opportunity to plan events within my school that promoted and provided all students with a voice.

Student Senate is an amazing organization that allows for students to get involved on campus and make a meaningful difference in our community. Also, one can accurately represent their peers through connecting and communicating with them through this position as well as grow their own leadership capabilities. These are my motives for running for student senate.

I believe my leadership experience and background prove that I hold the required skills and abilities to properly serve as a senator for my class. Therefore, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to represent my fellow peers through this role.
