The heinous abuse of unarmed cats in Malta - and the fact that the perpetrator is a Japanese national - makes me, as a fellow Japanese, feel intense anger and deep shame.
The perpetrators, who toyed with their lives and inflicted pain and fear on them, should be made to suffer the same pain as the cats who were victimized.
I feel anger beyond words at this act of trampling on the sanctity of life, even in the form of a human being.
I sincerely and strongly hope that this perpetrator will never see the light of day again and continue to pay for his deprivation of freedom and hope.
