Each time this happens, lose all network connections and have to restart downloads. Also, the power button on retina macbookpro is too close to "Backscape" which i often mistakenly hit while coding. Extremely annoying and counterintuitive from Apple. I have own a mid-2009 macbookpro with separated round power button far from keyboard and with higher pressure resistance button. Such a shame... power and keyboard should not be mix together!
Very user-unfriendly behavior. I am postponing the upgrade to Mavericks until this is fixed.
The new behavior of the Power key in Mavericks is simply awful. On a Macbook Air 13, I'm hitting both the Delete and Power keys at the same time about once a day, and the second I do so, I'm dumped into having to do a hard restart to get back to work. Simply awful!
SO ANNOYING. Already lost unsaved work twice because my finger slipped. Apple needs to fix this ASAP.
This drives me crazy. I hit that button by mistake at least twice a week while trying to hit delete. Why would they change it to sleep instantly? Just give us a toggle.
Agree, I want the old power button functionality to at least be an option.
Please fix this.

Bad change. At least provide a setting to control this behavior. Many people hit this button inadvertently, especially since the hardware design changed.
