Maury County, TN is 1 in 5 of the fastest growing counties in state of Tennessee. While the population growth is amazing, the time is pivotal to start improving, increasing and preparing for even more growth thru the expansion of TRUE HARD WIRED BROADBAND INTERNET to each and every uncovered pocket in Maury County. Internet "UTILITY" is a vital part of the equation for the ever so fast growing Maury County. With increasing technology, the demand for greater broadband capacity will incur. Internet is a vital component and catalyst that drives education, healthcare and day to day transactions of most Americans. I feel it's essential to take a real look at this now and see how everyone can work in correlation together in Maury County and other rural pockets of counties in Tennessee to achieve major results and make Maury County, TN. an economically competitive and desirable place to live, work and play. This will only happen if residents take a stand and demand these imperative utility services that even facilitate 911 EMERGENCY SERVICES. Take a look at this Report from CRS Report from Congress entitled Emergency Communications: Broadband and the Future of 911, which was distributed on August 25, 2010. https://www.911.gov/pdf/CRS_Report_Emergency_Communications_Future_of_911_2010.pdf

We in Maury County are far behind where we should be even for Emergency Services... yet another key element in cultivating and enhancing a safer community that will attract and retain opportunities for substantial economic growth. ANYONE TIRED OF WORKING FOR $12-$15 an hour? This is part of the ticket to achieving more!

When you sign this petition you are taking a stand that you would like our legislators to move at a rapid pace to ensure this broadband expansion occurs. This should not be a project that is further put in a file and not acted upon. We want a comprehensive action plan and to start seeing results. Our elected legislators need to work with the providers and ensure Maury County receives their fair share of grant dollars to equip the residents with this essential utility. It also serves as a notice to major Cable and Internet companies that while they continue to enhance and speed up broadband in neighboring counties that are already serviced with hard wired broadband, we in Maury County are taking notice. We request that they fulfill the empty pockets of no hard wired internet in our county as our population growth is substantial and we will continue to grow before they only make accommodations of faster speeds for counties whose financial demographics are substantially higher then Maury County. Friends, this only allows those neighboring counties to be more competitive economically, while Maury County will remain at a disadvantage.

I am currently organizing a list of addresses that still lack basic connectivity to show the county commission exactly where the gaps are. Post this petition link on your Facebook page today. Call your county representative and demand they prioritize broadband as a public utility.

The momentum behind this push proves that our community is tired of waiting for basic utility infrastructure. Post the link to your Facebook feed today and email your local representative to demand they prioritize hard wired broadband.

Same with Patricia Bowens. I received quote for around $17,709.00 they said they would contribute $3000.00 and they would own the lines. LOL LOL Ok.. yes would that make me a shareholder at Charter? HAHA No thank you. There are several grants available, we as a county need to pull it together and make sure that documentation is in line with requirements of such for scoring purposes to be competitive in scoring and receiving the grant money. As a regular citizen, we now have to also realize those that we vote into government elected official must also realize the importance of broadband internet as a true UTILITY and not a luxury. When individuals are voted in based on merit or political achievement rather then its someones friend of a cousin or whatever and we get a commitment from them to actually work on getting it done, that's when we'll see our fair share of improvement as a county in my humble opinion. I encourage you to go to Senator Joey Hensley, Representative Scott Cepicky and ask what they are personally doing to spear head this for Maury County. I could tell you, but it's important you find out for yourself. They actually have an upcoming campaign trail events you can find the dates and times on their facebook pages. I hope that helps. :) Follow the page created, I'll be sharing some important correspondence and I also encourage you to share the petition. So we can legit show them this is important to several people in their District. I plan on going beyond their pay grade too. As I've really gotten not very far with them. So yes, let's see where we get. :) Have a great weekend.
