We the undersigned, call on our governor-elect Tim Walz,to appoint Matthew Ramadan as the Metropolitian Council Chair. Matthew previously served as the 7th district representative (1999), and served as the Council’s 1st Vice-chair. Matthew Ramadan understands the needs of the communities that he has lived in and helped build. Growing up on welfare and in public housing, he understands the needs of families that are dependent on healthy public policies. Matthew is currently the Senior Project Coordinator of Residential and Real Estate Development for the City of Minneapolis Community Planning and Economic Development office. In this position he has advocated for more transaparent processes. A more inclusive and diverse pool of developers being awarded city contracts. Throughout his career, Matthew has contributed to developing 1000 affordable housing units. Matthew understands that the needs of his community and his city are one in the same.
