Dear Sirs,

We would like to place on record that we appreciate the efforts made by the Oman Cricket for the development of cricket in Oman so far, and while we fully support the inclusion of Omani players in the team and following the related rules, we feel that the penalty concept of 50 rials per match in case of an Omani player not being available and playing an expat instead is a bit too harsh.

In this regard we would like to clarify the following reasons;

1. In certain cases sometimes individuals are unable to make it to the match due to genuinely unavoidable circumstances such as being ill, having an emergency or being on their annual vacation etc, in which cases I believe some leeway or solution should be made available to the captains to inform the Oman Cricket with valid documentation, however the 50 rials penalty seems quite unreasonable and should not be imposed on the teams unless there is some due cause such as intentionally misusing the laws of Oman Cricket or refusing Omani representation in the team.

2. In light of the rules and changes that are made for the betterment of cricket in Oman by Oman Cricket, we would appreciate going forward if there is adequate representation of members and players via an association or committee of players in some form of manner, where the views and concerns of the captains and managers of the teams can be heard and we can move forward with mutual consideration.

3. We will also appreciate if Oman Cricket can consider increasing number of matches for teams playing C division on wards as lots of preparation and investment goes into each season and playing only 6 or 7 matches a year does not compliment the effort each team puts in.

In conclusion, we would like to emphasize once again that we do appreciate the efforts made by Oman Cricket so far to develop the sport overall and in maintaining the discipline to ensure the spirit of the game, however, we hope our views and suggestions are considered in relation to the new rules. Let us all strive together to develop cricket in Oman in the future as that is our ultimate goal.
