The proposal is simple: name a local park in Reynoldsubrg, Ohio after Mike Matheny.

Mike Matheny who grew up in Reynoldsburg, played Reynoldsburg Youth Baseball at Huber and John. F. Kennedy Parks throughout his youth. In fact, his street dead ends into Huber Park itself.

Mike played for the school's traveling team and the RHS Varsity during his High School years, graduating in 1988. He went on to play Big Ten baseball for the University of Michigan Wolverines before being signed by Major League Baseball's Milwaukee Brewers. Before he retired from MLB, he would start for three mroe teams (Toronto Blue Jays, St. Louis Cardinals, and the San Francisco Giants before retiring as a player in 2006.
As a player, he won 4 Gold Glove Awards, set two records for MLB Catchers by catching 252 straight innings without committing an error and fielding 1,565 consecutive chances without an error.

As a proud ex-Reynoldsburg citizen, Matheny donated an exhaustive set of catcher's gear, batting equipment, and uniforms to Reynoldsburg Youth Baseball for 6 consecutive years.

This petition is only the first step of the process. Your signature will indicate dedication and intent. The finalized petition will be presented to the Mayor of Reynoldsburg, Parks and Recreation Director, as well as the Reynoldsburg City Council and Reynoldsburg School Board for their consideration.

Thank you in Advance,
Nicholas Schuyler
