We have not been properly prepared during class and the textbook does not match the midterm. Most of us have done the homework and worked on the suggested homework problem, but the emphasis on the suggested programs were mostly on domain, range, limits etc and not on the midterm material which mostly involved advanced graphing.

The CLAS program also did not help because many students were really behind did not know what to study to prepare for the exam. Many students have spent a lot of time with this class but they ended up studying for the wrong material.

The TAs were also unable to help because they were also unsure of what was being tested. Many TAs admitted to the difficulty of preparing for the exam. We learned that you usually give practice midterms to help prepare the students for the midterms, but the TAs have been unable to provide a study guide this time.

I would really hope that you recognize our difficulty this midterm and encourage us a little by helping us raise our midterm grades just a little through some method or another, perhaps an optional retake, a greater curve or some extra credit. We are willing to do extra work if it means learning the material better and receiving a higher score on what is for many of us our first college midterm. An old saying says that "A good start is half the battle won.", I hope that you can help us begin our college careers strong! Thanks for your support!
