Restoring Same-Sex Romances in the Mass Effect Legendary Edition

It seems a waste for Bioware to not take this opportunity to reinstate some of the cut same sex romance options, it's 2021 not 2007. The trilogy has aged terribly in terms of LGBTQ representation. As a gay male, I have to wait 3 games before I can enjoy something most players get to enjoy from ME1. I also always saw Jack as either Bi or pansexual, it just makes sense given her character so it would be nice if those options could be opened back up again. Same goes for Jacob for Malesheps in ME2. It's just about giving us all fair treatment in the romance department and not feeling left out until the final game of a trilogy. I would personally ask for a Maleshep/Kaidan romance that spans the trilogy instead of introducing it at the 11th hour in ME3. We're not asking for any new dialogue to be recorded here, we know that's not going to happen. But with the already existing lines and animations it's entirely possible to make some of these cut romances work as they won't impact the story whatsoever. Even if a Maleshep/Kaidan trilogy spanning romance had to follow the same lines as the Femshep one, most players would not care. It's better than nothing. It's better purely that the option is there for LGBTQ players. If modders have been able to do it, why can't Bioware? Please make it happen guys...

I agree with all of these, but are we just gonna leave out Femshep & Ashley in ME1? They deserve rep just like Broshep/Kaidan do, since the same unused dialogue exists.

I really would love this to have some impact and for BioWare to work to implement this change

I hope it will work out, Kaidan and Jack really deserve more love, for me they are always lgbt romance and I'm sad I can't be with Kaidan in Legendary edition from the start as I'm with mods.

You guys "collaborated with modders" for graphics & gameplay upgrades, but didn't think to do the same for the cut LGB romances? The lack of inclusive content was old-fashioned back when the first Mass Effect game came out (your sister series, Dragon Age, released on a similar timeframe, had same-sex romances for both men and women in every game), and this is fourteen years later. It's frustrating and insulting that the Mass Effect team not only can't claim ignorance, but made the deliberate choice to leave out same-sex romances after conservative backlash, as though we are not worth fighting for. This is your chance to do things differently.

Honestly, I thought with the revelations in LotSB, we'd see Tali be bi in ME3. Granted, I wouldn't do it since I view her as a sister, but I prefer having options.

The ME team can definitely learn from the DA team in terms of representation. Nyreen's death is also a Bury Your Gays trope. FFS.

In a series meant for the M rating, it handled 'M Rating' content very weirdly. You can execute people, talk people into suicide, and other really effed-up things, but 'oh noes we cant show two guys gettin it on' or even, as of the second game onward, actually deal with any of the romance subplots properly as beffiting the games being 'triple-A' AND 'M rated', like, who the f showed wearing their clothes?!

To be clear the mods that enable these all have janky and hacked together dialogue, especially once you get into importing the romance into a game that never had it as a import option before i.e. Kaiden in ME2 and ME3. This WOULD require new dialogue to be recorded. If you think that's a reasonable expectation then sign away,

Representation is of upmost importance these days and although BioWare has done some good work for the LGBTQ+ community but the work needs to be improved and meet the same standards that our straight counterparts receive.

Jack should be 100% romancable by FemShep and always should have been, please fix this!

Mods have already been created for the original games to have these romances in place. There's no reason why BioWare can't at least consult with the modders to make these more official.
