I'm pro-vaccine and have always supported masks in school until almost a month ago. It's time to make masks in public schools optional, as they are almost everywhere else except hospitals. If a new variant emerges, people should re-evaluate. Until then, unmask our kids.

I'm a retired educator with 41 years experience at all levels from middle school to graduate, and I believe blanket school masking, especially for grade school children, is a terrible idea and makes no sense. When children leave school to resume normal activities many do not wear masks. IMO, allowing the NJEA, aided and abetted by a out of touch school board allowing the NJEA to dictate policy impose such a draconian policy for so long is just plain counterproductive. Even an out of touch Governor Murphy gets it!

Now it makes much more sense for families, faculty, and staff to exercise their own choice as to whether they need further protection (by wearing a mask) -- depending on their own personal risk factors. First, get vaccinated. Second, if you need more protection, then wear a mask. But, most kids are not at a high risk. Let's get their lives back to normal, and allow them to remove their masks - now.

It is long overdue that we take the masks off our children. It is disgusting to see those in power, who mandate the masks, dont wear them, while they force our children to. ENOUGH ALREADY!

Enough already!! The virus is a very low threat to our children and cloth masks do absolutely nothing anyways!!!
