The question here is not why marijuana should be legal, but why it is illegal.

-You cannot become addicted to marijuana, you only become addicted to the feeling, the same feeling that you get when you listen to your favorite song.
-Smoking ciggaretes gives you more lung problems then smoking Marijuana
-Legalizing it would create thousands of jobs. -Marijuana is the biggest cash crop in the US. Legalizing it and placing a tax would create millions or even billions of dollars.
-When something is illegal, the thrill to do it becomes intensified, legalizing marijuana would not only lower the thrill but it would promote using it safely without the fear of getting in trouble with the law. -Compare cigarettes and marijuana. marijuana doesn't kill you, it doesn't cause diseases, it doesn't hurt your body. but cigarettes kill you, they give you diseases, and it hurts your body in multiple ways. So why is it that they can sell and use something that kills people, but they can't sell or use something that does no harm?
-Individuals have the freedom to make choices for ourselves and the government is only allowed to restrict those freedoms when the individual's actions are a danger to other citizens. Marijuana is a lesser risk to society than alcohol is.
-Cigarettes and alcohol kill thousands of people every day, yet i have never heard of a case where marijuana has killed somebody.
-Did you know that in some religions smoking weed is almost equivalent to drinking wine as a Christian? And yet the US says you cant smoke marijuana which is restrictiing the freedom of religion under the 1st Amendment, taking away our basic freedoms and rights.
