On Thursday 27th January, Holocaust Memorial Day 2005, Mr Martin Gleeson, secretary of Oldham Trades Council and a prominent anti-racist campaigner in the town, was arrested following a complaint by Oldham BNP activist Anita Corbett.
Having turned up uninvited , the BNP complained that Mr Gleeson, in laying the Trades Council
The weight of this situation has been heavy for a long time but this surge of support shows that people are finally waking up to the injustice against Martin. I am exhausted by the slow pace of the legal process yet seeing this momentum reminds me that we cannot afford to look away.
