Everyone is sacred in the eyes of God and deserves the support of God and Guru, especially during a marriage ceremony.
Sikh Dharma of the West is part of the Akal Takhat and the SGPC. Right now is not a loving secure time to have same sex marriage in a Gurdwara.
In the mean time if Yogi Tea, 3HO, KRI or individuals want to host a gay marriage that may be supportive. It is premature to declare our moral beliefs and not have real support behind us.

I support an individuals right to same sex marriages. That being said, Sikh Dharma international is part of a global sangat, and all need to be included in this discussion. I do not think we want to cut ties with the SGPC.

Cultural sensitivity has to be recognized. People are free to do as they wish and can marry legally in the courts

Forget the SGPC, this development flies in the face of everything the Gurus and the Siri Singh Sahib taught about the sanctity of marriage.

Though I do not have objections to same-sex marriage per se, weddings in Gurdwara MUST follow the guidelines set by the Akal Takhat and SGPC! There is no choice in the matter, whatever our opinion about the subject! Sikh Dharma International is an extension of the above governing bodies.

It is imperative that this be done properly; while following our Dharmic protocols and in conjunct & union with respect to our SGPC and Akal Takht.

From my understanding of the SiriSinghSahib's teachings that this condition is a sickness caused by the mother's insecurity & also tv talk show that the SiriSinghSahibJi was asked to attend to address the then known leader or spokes person for same sex relationships, the SiriSinghSahibJi asked him point blank: Let us assume that God created men and women to be in same sex relationships and this is the way that God intended for us please tell me how would the future of the human race continue? The leader/spokesperson for Sam sex relationships fumbled for words by calling the SiriSinghSahibJi, Your Grace, Your Holiness, Holy Father,..... But could not come up with an answer. I agree that we don't condone same-sex relationships outside of sig Dharma and that we respect the right of every person to live however they wish as long as they are not harming anyone else but I can't see how we could ever allow I same sex marriage to happen within a secret door here in the United States Canada Europe anywhere in the world because of the aforementioned possible atrocities it would almost be like declaring war with the sgpc I don't see how it could be possible seriously speaking and I feel that with all the experiences that I've had living amongst BritishAsianSikhs American Asian Sikhs & Canadian Asian Sikhs & even having been married to a British Asian Sikh, that any kind of discussion of this topic would just be a slap in their face. Just my humble opinion.

I have no objection to same sex marriage but I do not wish to upset or offend those who have serious religious objections. I would be in favor of a wide ranging conversation that would allow such marriages to be blessed under the vibration of the Guru Granth Sahib.

To take action now is needlessly premature and frivolously unilateral. We must move in consensus and solidarity with our greater Sikh community.

Timing, SGPC & Akal Takht communication, sangat discussion (not done under the KC banner), consequences for MPA, etc., are a few issues which need further review. Ad hoc decisions without sangat buy in are doomed to cause great harm to this dharma. Life is a progression as should be any changes.

This will have extremely serious consequences.
