We, the undersigned residents of Miami-Dade County in the State of Florida, hereby petition Senator Marco Rubio to hold an open forum, in-person town hall within Miami-Dade County as promptly as possible, during the United States Senate's recess from February 20th to the 24th, during late afternoon or evening hours to maximize attendance.

His constituents have urgent, time-sensitive questions and concerns that they would like to discuss with him in light of recent and unprecedented senatorial and broader governmental activity. This activity has caused a great deal of turmoil, worry, and strife among Sen. Rubio's constituency, and he must address this to properly represent us in the United States Senate.

It is important for the Senator to to note that the overwhelming majority of Miami-Dade County voters (66.17%) did not vote in favor of our current presidential administration during the 2016 General Election. Most voters in Sen. Rubio's hometown are rife with well-founded apprehension and confusion about the senatorial and broader legislative response to the speed and dubious legality of our new president's actions. We petition Senator Rubio to meet with us in an open forum so that we may rationally and civilly discuss the matters that are causing us, his constituency, so much restlessness.

Earlier this month (February 7th) Senator Rubio addressed the United States Senate, and passionately petitioned his fellow senators to be respectful to one another and cautioned that "...the ability of the most important nation on earth to debate in a productive and respectful way the pressing issues before it" was at stake. We are simply asking that Senator Rubio extend that very same productivity and respect to his constituents in the form of addressing some of the more pressing issues that are weighing on our hearts and minds.

We request that an open forum, in-person town hall be scheduled immediately, in a centralized location within Miami-Dade County. We request that the town hall not be theme specific, allowing constituents to bring up any topic, question, or concern. We further request that the majority of the time be allotted to an open mic Q&A (at least 2 hours), allowing any constituent present to ask Sen. Rubio questions for him to answer directly. We ask that Sen. Rubio fulfill his congressional duty to properly represent all of his constituents by abiding by this petition.

It is our sincere hope that this petition leads to the Senator having a greater understanding of what his constituents’ concerns are. Furthermore, we hope that the Senator makes these town halls a recurring and regular method of engaging with his voters.
