Mwalimu Nyerere said in 1997 that our continent is at the crossroads- we either rise to PanAfricanism or sink into tribalism. We need a PanAfricanist at the helm of AU not a narrow nationalist. I can't see anyone among the candidates except Prof Bathily.

This is a splendid initiative on the part of those who put this Petition together; thank you so much, comrades.
Bathily is no doubt the person to redeem the status of our Mother Body: a true PanAfrikanist whom some of us have known since the heady days of the struggle for liberation in the late 1970's, in Dar es Salaam and during the days of the African Association of Political Science(AAPS) and CODESRIA; and as a brother and comrade to this day.

I do support prof. Bathily to be elected for the AU highest post. He is an African prominent intellectual and a freedom fighter. I think he is the best choice for the job.

Africa is on the move. The various subregional institutions have a critical role to play in the process collectively. This is where a strategically oriented organization like the AU has its greatest challenge. The leadership needed to guide the various subregional institutions and actors is more critical now than ever. The professor brings that leadership. Thanks for your vote for a stronger AU.

I am a Liberian historian who believes that the path to a brighter future begins with knowledge and appreciation of our past. Prof. Bathily will bring such historical insights to bear on the issues and challenges of today.
