As most of you are aware, Sergeant Michael Manfredi has recently been federally indicted regarding an on-duty incident that occurred in 2005. As a current member of the Fresno Police Officers Association (FPOA), in good standing, he should be eligible for financial assistance from the Legal Defense Fund (LDF) to assist him with his defense. However, the FPOA has recently rejected Sergeant Manfredi's request for LDF assistance because of a $50,000 limit which was in place in 2005.  This limit no longer exists.  This decision is leaving him to pay for his own defense at an anticipated cost of between $75,000 and $100,000.

This petition is to show your support for Sergeant Manfredi and express to the leadership of the FPOA that you, as an FPOA member, want his current legal defense funded by the LDF under the current guidelines.
