I think it goes without saying that we need mandatory sentencing for these predators. It is not fair that people who cause so much hurt and demolition to a person/s are left back into our communities so easily without sentencing or after serving a worthless sentencing undeserving of their crimes. 97% of sexual assault cases that make it to court result in no conviction and that is a fact, a startling fact! The majority of people in Ireland have the attitude that our justice system is far too lenient with these predators. A victim will forever suffer at the hands of their attackers, that is a punishment within itself for those abused without adding to their wounds be setting their abusers free or not keeping them away from our communities long enough. So why not stand up for those who have been harmed they need closure and, that is something with the help of our nation I hope to provide. With YOUR signature YOU have the chance to seek justice for all those who have suffered not only the abuse but having to face their attackers in court and see them be set free or being given a sentencing NOT worthy of their crimes. It is time for change.
