Alcohol and drug addiction is a disease. Yes the person made the initial decision to drink and try a drug. It does not take long for the decision to stop is no longer a personal decision. Just like a person does not make a choice to be bi-polar or ADHD, a person does not make a conscious decision to become an alcoholic or a drug addict. In this country in order to get help with recovery the addict has to commit a crime or go on welfare. Why should the government always foot the bill to help the addict if they do have medical insurance. Please sign this petition to legislate a bill that requires insurance companies to allow inpatient rehabilitation for alcohol or drug abuse.
