I want to require that necessity’s like tissue, soap, seat covers, mirrors and paper towels that we require in all bathrooms . An unclean bathroom can create a negative impression and reduce students pride in their school and community. This can impact students long-term, including their attitude toward their community. A clean and well-stocked bathroom is not just a necessity, it's a right for every student. Unfortunately, many schools in Oakland, CA lack basic hygiene products such as tissue paper, soap, seat covers and paper towels. This not only creates an unhygienic environment but also impacts the students' pride in their school and community. According to the American Cleaning Institute (ACI), proper hand hygiene can reduce absenteeism by up to 57%, yet without access to these basic necessities this becomes impossible (ACI). Furthermore, a study by Initial Washroom Hygiene found that 73% of students are more likely to have a negative perception of their institution if the washroom facilities are not clean (Initial Washroom Hygiene). It's time we address this issue head-on and ensure that all bathrooms within our schools are equipped with necessary hygiene products. Let's foster an environment where we can focus on learning rather than worrying about basic needs. Sign this petition today to mandate essential hygiene products in all Oakland school bathrooms.

Its honestly shameful that kids are going to school and dont even have soap to wash their hands. Fix the bathrooms already.

My daughter complains about this all the time. How is a kid supposed to focus on a test when the bathrooms are gross and empty? Ridiculous.
