We call on the U.S Department of Education and all american leaders to recognize music and art education as a madatory component of every public education curriculum. Mandate elementary art and music education, making them core subjects and mandate they be instructed by qualified, certified and licensed art and music educators on a weekly basis for the duration of the school year. All americans should work to enhance and support music and art education in our nation's schools. A child's first years offer a critcally important window of opportunity to develop skills that determine their success. Mandating music and art on the elementary level insuring it become a part of every child's core curriculum is essential. Ensure music and art are included as a part of a well balanced education addressing the whole child, to prepare them for the creative thinking necessary for success in the work force of the future. Teaching students to be creative is a deliberate process and deserves its weekly exposure and guided practices by art and music educators.
