As a single person living in a single family home next to two single family houses with more than one family and up to 12 people in each, I feel the taxes are out of line, especially since little or nothing is being done to rein in the overcrowding in our City and spread the taxes evenly and equitably.

Tax rate uncertainty is a real threat to Manassas’s competitive advantage over Prince William County. It hurts not just fixed income retires, but makes housing relatively less attractive to new prospective buyers. Tax rate uncertainty also erodes confidence that our City Council values citizens having positive free cash flow.

Our city government has been fecklessly raising our taxes for years. In the process they are endangering our city’s future. We are very close to being the highest taxed citizenry in the entire Northern Virginia region (Only Manassas Park has a higher rate). Meanwhile our school system is ranked at the bottom. Stop the never-ending tax increases for one cycle at least!

We have asked the city many times to stop increasing taxes, but they continue to not listen. There will come a day when property value goes down, and then the city is going to be screwed.
