Make The Curve Safe
TIME FOR CHANGE AND ACTION The curve at 1004-1008 Washington Blvd, Pittsburgh, Pa 15206
has been a huge problem for many years. Our neighbor and friend John
Metzler(owner of the Urban Tree Forge) was killed here on 5/13/10 at 8:00 pm.
this is just one of many deaths that have occurred at this dangerous curve on
Washington Blvd. This curve has proven over the past 10 years to be a deadly
and dangerous stretch of Washington Blvd. With little or no deterrence
motorists speed around this curve and, in countless instances, crash into the
nearby buildings. There are numerous artists and professionals who work at
this curve. It is absolutely essential that they feel safe to venture outside
their building, and not feel as though they have to constantly look over their
shoulder for some out-of-control vehicle. It should be the goal of the city of Pittsburgh to support
and help flourish the types artists and creative professionals that work at
this curve. They are people actively participating in the community, the
economy and help to shape the future of Pittsburgh as well as the local
neighborhood. Finally, something must be done before there are more deaths. This curve at 1004-1008 Washington Blvd. has been unsafe for
too long. It is time to protect the citizens who call this curve home. This
road was badly engineered. Flashing lights and a lower speed limit with proper
signage is what we need at a minimum to make this a safer place to work and
live. Please protect your citizens now.
