Sign the petition to make the Thesis Film Screening the DFVP's Portfolio Show. Having the Thesis Screening is a way to actually showcase our work in a proper environment.
Having proper screenings of our thesis films is exponentially more beneficial to us as filmmakers than a brief reel in a booth surrounded by elaborate art displays of programs that this portfolio show's format readily supports. If career services focused on getting industry employers to the screening - rather than portfolio show - the turnout would undoubtedly be greater than the weak turnout at previous portfolio shows. The theater screening format supports the showcase of filmmakers and potential employers realize that.
Also, the past screening last December became a reality only after those thesis students went as a group and demanded they be given the same opportunity as past graduates and other campuses. This is a way that we can secure this opportunity for all future graduates.
Sign the petition letting our Dean and the rest of the Art Institutes know that we want the best possible chance after earning our degrees.
A couple of years ago the school was closed on Sundays during the last few weeks of the quarter. After a petition went around, they were forced to revisit their policy. If enough students show that we are passionate about our work, and want it presented that way, the school will listen.
