Who at city hall thought having only one road to a sub division was a brilliant idea? Keep Northrup and Parkside open after construction

Keep construction trucks and heavy equipment OFF Broadway in Port Weller East. Divert it through Keefer road .

The City has an option here to do the right thing for the neighbourhood residents. It's really a no-brainer.

2nd entrance into Port Weller East is essential as with growing residents in this area more access is required for normal and emergency use.

They should not be using the residential streets for any of the trucks.

Cannot have years of heavy trucks laden with every building material using our residential streets. Walkers, children on bikes, dogs being walked cannot compete with heavy equipment.

Heavy trucks are dangerous on residential streets!! They can't always stop in time if there is a car backing out of a driveway or a child riding a bike across the road.

1) To be very clear, this is not an issue whether to keep Northrup Crescent open permanently or not. 2)It strains my credulity that on July 15, 2019 our City staff put the Bromley Gardens subdivision on hold in for 6 months in order to study Northup Crescent, yet they did not give any public notice of this review or ask for residents input. After that surreptitious review, City staff negotiated the subdivision agreement with the Bromley Gardens subdivision owner and threw all of Port Weller East residents under the bus. That was by not compelling him to continue to exclusively use Northrup for heavy construction vehicles to until the Bromley Gardens subdivision is fully constructed (30 single family homes and zoned for a 5 storey 50 unit apartment building). That means that ALL of those vehicles on that huge list will be using Broadway, Parkside Dr, Lakeside Dr and Stepney St for the next several years while the subdivision is being built... unless City Council immediately passes a by-law to supercede that clause in the subdivision agreement. Why did the City staff accommodate this out-of-town owner... to the great detriment of all tax-paying Port Weller East residents whose safety, quality of life and paved roads are compromised by that irresponsible decision? What would it matter to the subdivision owner if the vehicles use Northup or not? It doesn't. It matters greatly to us. Grey Forest Homes emailed me in April 2021 stating that their own Broadway Gardens subdivision agreement allows the City to have sole discretion when to close Northrup permanently. So, why did City staff do this to us? Please share this petition with friends and neighbours. Thank you to the wonderful, hardworking Port Weller Residents Association for bringing this vital issue to the attention of the public.
