To: Vice Admiral Vivek H. Murthy, MD, Surgeon General of the United States:
As a recently-diagnosed Type 2 Diabetic, I have found it difficult to get good, accurate nutritional information on those occasions when I must eat out. Recently, I had occasion to discover just how bad some of these foods at restaurants REALLY ARE.
As this is directly contributing to the epidemic of obesity and diabetes in this country, I ask that it be REQUIRED that all restaurants with over 10 locations in the United States...must make available, on request, printed nutritional information available for all foods they serve.
I'm not diabetic (yet) but I need nutritional information to keep to my eating plan. Restaurants should be able to tell their customers what exactly they are eating, especially since they have no problems advertising the same food constantly.
