Nine million dollars were spent on funding for Shelby County Schools in predominantly white areas. Not a dime was spent in Northaven. The Northaven community is filled with hardworking Americans just like all the other neighborhoods in Memphis. Why shouldn’t our children have the same opportunities as their counter parts? Dismissing our children’s need is a violation of their Civil Rights! Parents we have to stand up for what’s right for our children. It is unacceptable for our community to have to drive to day after day across the city for our children to have the same opportunities. Why should we have to bare that burden when we have a school in our neighborhood? Why not fund our school?
