IF the board decides on mandatory masking, it would be beneficial if they describe the scientific evidence supporting their usage in schools. 'Opinions' of organizations like Health Depts. and CDC no longer have credibility when they change their guidelines frequently, with NO scientific reasons.

PLEASE BE THE LEADERS OUR CHILDREN SO DESPERATELY NEED!
Although parts of two consecutive school years have been marred by COVID restrictions, it is critical for the well-being of our children that a third year does not contain pointless regulation pertaining to a virus (variant or not) that does not affect children in any significant manner. Children are not in danger from COVID-19, something we should all know by now. They also do not spread the virus, as a multitude of studies have shown.
I’m writing to ask that you be the leaders our children so desperately need during this time and ensure that masks in AVSD are optional. Up to this point, we have all gone along with district mandates in spite of our misgivings regarding the possible repercussions of the policies, but now, there is a plethora of mounting evidence showing that not only are masks having no effect on the spread of COVID-19, but that masking children is in fact extremely harmful to their physical, mental, and emotional health.
Face masks have many side effects including reduced blood oxygen levels, elevated carbon dioxide levels, chronic stress and anxiety. Masking contributes to headaches, withdrawal behaviors, shortness of breath/hyperventilation, chest pain, immunosuppression, hypoxia, insomnia, depression, fatigue, increased skin temperature, skin rashes, acne, compromised cognitive performance, dizziness, listlessness and increased heart rate just to name a few.
Any intervention, especially one that is prophylactic, must cause fewer harms to the recipient than the infection. Since children have a statistically zero chance of dying from COVID, the cost-benefit of requiring children to wear an investigational face-covering with emerging safety issues is especially difficult to justify.
Furthermore, it’s simply a myth that masks prevent viruses from spreading. The lack of effectiveness is due to the gaps between the masks and the child’s face,
