Make Maryknoll Drive Safe again

I am glad that the traffic issues are being addressed for Maryknoll. It is much busier since the access north of 75th Street. Whatever can be done to slow down traffic and make it safer for walkers, bikers, cars, trucks, children, and local residents will be appreciated.

We live on Darrel Court and hear the constant speeding traffic.

I do not live on this road, however with it’s convenient access to 75th Ave, I use it often to leave and enter the neighborhood. This is essentially a neighborhood arterial road and should be redesigned with consideration for the safety of the residents who live on and use it.

We’ve lived on Maryknoll Dr for almost 4 years now. Just backing out of our driveway is SO dangerous because of speeding cars! We’ve had many close calls! It seems to be a high speed cut through for many of the vehicles. Before I’m forced to spend the amount of money they are asking for, there needs to be some research and problem solving done on these issues so we can all live more safely!

Please take measures to make Maryknoll Drive more safe! Right now it is already too busy of a street in this little neighborhood with lots of children in it, and cars drive too fast through there as it is.

I live 2 houses down from Maryknoll and walk, bike and drive on Maryknoll Dr. I have seen many close calls on the winding part of Maryknoll. Walkers aren't safe, kids are definitely not safe, and the cars and trucks are definitely going way too fast for the conditions. Please look at this more closely!

Maryknoll had become a highway that runs through a residential area. Oak Ridge is the feeder and people are constantly speeding through our neighborhood. There are no sidewalks in our neighborhood and there has to be a way to keep our streets safe so the residents of Croixwood can enjoy their own neighborhoods safely. Deer Path was the former cut through and that was eliminated. Croixwood deserves the same consideration. If people take 5 minutes longer to get where they're going without cutting through our neighborhood that's a win.

I live one street over from Maryknoll and we get traffic speeding around our culdesac because the drivers made a wrong turn and thought they were on Maryknoll. We never had this before the street opened up in front of the fire department which has allowed this extra traffic. The impact of opening the other side of Maryknoll by the fire dept should have been predicted before it opened up and other action should have been taken to deter the traffic as soon as it opened. These residential streets are winding and too narrow to handle this type of vehicle traffic with kids, walkers and bikers. Not to mention trying to sell a house on Maryknoll now that it is labeled as being very busy and dangerous street.

We need safe pedestrian sidewalks on maryknoll.

204 Maryknoll Drive. I would like the proposed Maryknoll Road project to address the issues of speeding and high traffic volumes. Also the issues of people blowing through the Interlachen/Maryknoll stop sign. If you’re not willing to address any of these concerns, then the cost percentages of the project need to be switched, 70% to the city, and 30% to property owner, since the non resident traffic is far greater then the resident traffic.

I use Maryknoll to access the bike path daily when the weather permits. I've seen many drivers discreetly on their cell phones which bothers me with all the kids and bike traffic.

Maryknoll needs repair but should not be a thoroughfare.

Cars drive way to fast on MaryKnoll. I have seen many cars drive through the 4 way stop at Interlachen & MaryKnoll. This is not safe for our children. I won’t let my kids bike near that road without me.

We argued the traffic on Maryknoll would increase significantly at the December 4, 2012 Armory/Fire Station Traffic Impact Study despite your hired engineering firm's conclusions to the contrary. And here we are ... the new Deerpath. But unlike Deerpath's problem with car traffic, we get a significant amount of commercial truck traffic, as well as city maintenance trucks and trailers as well as fire department trucks. Very disappointed with the City's management of traffic design.

I worry for the safety of my grandchildren who live on Maryknoll. The cars zoom by going faster than the speed limit and the traffic has increased. Thank you

I’m a walker and runner on that road. The road is used as a shortcut and drivers are fast and careless. Agree, let’s evaluate options to make it more safe!

Please put this on hold until further studies can be made! Traffic MUST SLOW DOWN. My young children and i use maryknoll to get to the bike path. We have nearly been hit more than once by speeding drivers crossing the street from the SIDEWALK. this is dangerous. Please!!!

I support a traffic study and incorporating a speed and traffic mitigation strategy into the Maryknoll Project. I live at 204 Maryknoll and feel unsafe walking on the road or simply getting my mail due to the heavy traffic and unchecked speeding of people using our neighborhood road as a cut-across. Last year we had a car crash into our yard and destroy landscaping and a mailbox. Thankfully no one was injured - I think action is needed before someone isn’t as lucky.
