We should be opening up not shutting down. Shut downs have prolonged the pandemic and has made many businesses go under. Its time to stop.

Martial arts is my physical therapy. They are vital in maintaining my ability to walk after a spinal injury and learning to walk again 20 years ago after car wreck that left me disabled. The summer closures were damaging to me, even with emailed videos from Sifu and Sabomnim. Please do not close down gyms and martial arts schools and similar establishments and classes. The damage to health is much higher by closing them. The elderly and infirm usually do not participate, and where they so special hours or staying home can still protect them without harming the test of us in the process.

Marital Arts is so much more than just exercise or learning self defense. What else goes into Martial Arts? Heavy focus on mental discipline, it requires dedication, repetition, it increases your physical strength but also your mental strength, flexibility, confidence, it allows you set and reach goals, teaches ways of health living, being a part of a team, manners, friendships and more. Martial Arts is a health and wellness activity that in compasses the 5 Tenants which are Indomitable Spirit, Perseverance, Courtesy, Integrity and Self Control. It allows students a safe outlet for them to be themselves and deal with any stress and anxiety. It also is a great activity to keep kids busy and not getting into trouble on the streets.
