Make HOSA whole again

Reducing the number of student for this club from 193 to a mere 40 would crush many students' dreams of actually participating in this club, and I see this as extremely unnecessary.

All the students need to be able to participate as it is a great oppurtunity for them. So please do not reduce the student count. They are all high school students and should be able to organize and handle with fewer volunteers. thanks Praveena Gogineni

HOSA is an excellent program being conducted @ IA and it is an opportunity for all hardworking students to get exposed too. More exposure to these kind of programs will give an opportunity to the students to explore and gain advantage. We should try to find out ways how to fund these kind of programs and expand our knowledge instead of planning to reduce the strength. As a parent, we request you to reconsider the decision to cut down membership and suggest you to encourage to participate in this program.

I strongly support the HOSA as its been a valuable experience for my son, Amulya G Parmar and strongly petition against cutting down membership to the students. So earnestly consider to allow all interested kids be allowed in the HOSA. Thanks Daisy G Parmar

We as a parent of our daughter who is in currently ninth grade at IAE and would like to pursue career in health and science passingly toward the goal of working in this field,. We are requesting to please reconsider the decision to cut down membership and suggesting to keep the level at 193 member as it is today to give all the bright students of IAE to participate in HOSA chapter.

Please continue to give the students this great opportunity to learn and succeed. This is the age to learn.

One can not cut down things that creates great individuals in this country.

This is a vital part of our school. Please do not destroy it.

Please allow all students in HOSA program, it's so important for interested candidates to fulfill their dreams and make a solid future down the road. HOSA is a important component for future candidates who wants to join in health science related field. It's impossible to think that a reputable school district like " Troy " is cutting this valuable program. It's our humble request to reconsider your decision and make this program successful. I hope that the decision to eliminate HOSA members to 40 could be reconsidered. I wish to be part of this club this year.

An academic focused school like IA must keep its name by providing more opportunities for aspiring students with programs HOSA. Strongly urge to add more spots and find creative ways to resolve this important issue.

My daughter is looking forward to be part of HOSA. She is extremely excited for HOSA and would be heartbroken if she doesn't get a chance.

Its not all the time studies for the students. They need extra activites. Ia does not have many clubs and on top hosa is now for 40 students out of about 200 or so. Its not fair for the students. I would strongly vote to keep clubs at school specially me in my 80-90's participated in many at my school.

In our school, we have a HOSA poster with a doctor on it and it says, "Can you see yourself here?" No, I can't because I might not even be able to do this club!!

Please help us parents that are consciously and actively working with the great staff at IA to better our young adults - this is a very useful and practical organization. Please help us.

Any reason for this one, or is it a matter of "IA's vision and mission statement" again?

It's not right to dismiss a club or extracurricular activity on the grounds that "anyone can take a test" and that we, as students, need to "expand on our events". Believe it or not, it's actually okay for students to pursue their interests without making it a huge deal, writing even more reflections, and conforming everything they do to a mission statement that is vague to start out with. It's important for everyone to receive exposure to their field of choice, and even more important for those who haven't decided on a career to explore all of their options. Reducing HOSA does not fulfill the International Academy mission statement, which states that "the culture of the International Academy will balance the social, emotional, and physical health of our community" and that administration will "encourage holistic growth". Holistic encompasses extracurricular activities. Holistic does not mean 'apply the IB learner profile to every breath you take". Holistic does not mean "name your firstborn child after one of the TOK ways of knowing". It's important for students to learn in different ways, and this means not always writing essays and making connections. Sometimes students do things out of interest! We don't always care about how a club looks on a college resume! This is one of the large weaknesses of the student body at IA already, and the principals are propagating this idea further. We want to learn in more ways than are mandated by the leaders of this school. I stand with HOSA!

HOSA is extremely important to the kids. Personally I have seen the positive affect of HOSA on my son Shreyas. If HOSA cuts down students will miss out the opprtuinity to learn the subject as well as life skills which is very upsetting and disappointing. IA management please support the kids.

This is not the sign of a highly acclaimed high school in the USA. As mush as I am proud of IA-EAST, this kind of not well thought out decisions are really shameful and hurt the student overall learning and building confidence.
