Make Franklin Avenue a Model 21st Century School
Dear Superintendent King, Superintendent Martinez, and Board Member Rodriguez,
On behalf of the Franklin Avenue Elementary School community, we the undersigned students, families, teachers, staff, and community members ask you to leverage public bond dollars to make Franklin Avenue a Model 21st Century School.
Currently, Franklin Avenue thrives in many regards; it is a sought after neighborhood school that exceeds local and district performance on standardized exams while also offering arts, music, and innovative extracurricular activities. Yet, the school's ability to thrive is at great risk: the facility is outdated, outdoor space is compromised, our teachers' livelihood is challenged, and the safety of the school is minimized because of archaic bungalows, outdated infrastructure, and no teacher parking. Our school hasn't been updated since _______ date!
We know that your vision for Los Angeles Unified School District is to be a "District on the Move" and "We're in it together." Therefore, we ask you to immediately move our school forward and allocate public bond dollars that were approved in 2004, 2005, and 2008 to update our facility. Our school and our community are depending on you.
