The committee reported H.2277 favorably and it feels surreal to see our goal finally realized. This outcome belongs entirely to you because I am just one person who typed up a simple request. Please keep an eye on the progress of the full bill as it moves forward.

Dear Chairman Brownsberger, Chairwoman Cronin and Honorable Committee Members:

By signing this petition I am indicating my support for H.2277, An Act relative to the misrepresentation of a service animal, filed by Representative Kimberly Ferguson. This bill would make intentionally misrepresenting a pet or other animal as a service animal a civil infraction punishable by a fine and/or community service. H.2277 is crucial in protecting the rights and privileges of those with trained, legitimate service dogs and their access to public spaces. I ask that you report H.2277 favorably from the Joint Committee on Judiciary following its hearing.

I set this up hoping for a handful of signatures and now we have hit one hundred. It is truly humbling to see so many people care about protecting legitimate service animals.

Having a certified NEADS-trained hearing dog, I support this law to stop the imposter service dogs. I saw several dogs with improper trainings in the public places. This bothers me. This law must be passed just like the other states. Thanks

This is a big problem. My SD has been lunged at twice by an out-of-control untrained dog wearing a SD vest. My SD keeps me safe and independent. I need to be able to trust that other dogs around us in the community are doing the same.

I work in an acute care hospital. There are behavioral and infection control issues that can put patients, visitors and the animal at risk if the dog is not qualified to be in that setting. Everyone loses when the law is abused.

As one who raises assistance dogs, this subject is near and dear to my heart. I see too many of our graduates turned away from public places because folks are wary of all dogs wearing capes these days. Please vote to pass this important bill. Thank you!

It is unconscionable to allow an able-bodied person to take advantage of the misfortune of others who rely upon the presence of a service dog. Please put an end to this exploitation and pass legislation to make this a crime.

Please support H.2277. As a volunteer weekend raiser for a leading service dog program, I have seen the amazing positive difference real, well-trained service dogs can make, and the adverse impact that untrained fake service dogs can create.

Service dogs change the lives of all who need them. Please don't allow the "cheaters" to spoil this wonderful service. Those bad guys are selfish pigs.

Anyone who falsely presents their animal as a service animal is degrading & tearing down all of the hard work & training ACTUAL service animals undergo & the incredible life improvements they bring to those who truly need them.
