As a parent of two children, ages 4 and 6, and an Eldora pass-holder, I am horrified that the Eldora ski school allows small children to ride lifts without an adult. Change this policy now!!

Please keep the children safe. They often think they are able to do much more than they are capable! That is why we have parents and adults to assist. in their growth.

We were there last Sunday and my daughter heard rumors about someone falling off the lift. She had nightmares that night. I will certainly wait until my youngest is older/bigger before enrolling them in Eldorables.
As an aside, Eldora is boasting online about their new snow stick webcam, but nothing about the incident or their commitment to safety. Very disappointing.

Yes! This seems like an absolute no brainer, Eldora. Children 6 and under should never under any circumstance be suspended 40 ft in the air with nothing to stop them from falling should they look down, or scratch their leg, or slip, or any number of other conceivable things a small child might do.

Same lift this year - we asked the lift operator to slow down the lift for our 6 year old. He rolled his eyes at us and did not slow the lift. He said it already goes slow (it doesn’t). Son almost fell off getting on, and now he refuses to ski at Eldora. I complained to the lift operator at the top, but sure that nothing came of it. Training and accountability to the sloppy staff there will do more than chair bars. I am very disappointed in Eldora, and avoid skiing there with my children.

The safety at Eldora needs to be improved. Last year we got season passes. This year we did not and have only gone a couple times. This month we'll be skiing elsewhere with the children and perhaps for the rest of the season. That this has not been resolved and that we're continuing to see poor level of safety and disheartening accidents like this makes me question if we should continue being a customer of Eldora next season. I've seen many, many children under 6 and under 48" tall allowed to ride the chairlifts without an adult. The lift operators clearly need better training. Eldora needs to attend to these issues.

I was shocked that eldora allowed my five year old son to ride the lift with another child his age in eldorables.

At age 6, my daughter was not able to get off the lift in time at Eldora. The lift operator did not even notice and failed to stop the lift. Very scary and dangerous experience.

I have been pretty disappointed with the mixed quality of instructors at Eldora. Some are amazing, and I've watched one yell at four year olds this year. Teaching kids to a ski is a very difficult job and I often see one young instructor with way to many kids to safely watch. Last year when skiing, I heard a little girl crying and had to ski off the run into a gulley to help her out and get her back to her Eldorables group at the chairlift. I would never put my kid in Eldorables.

Just a note that the petition is not asking for an instructor to ride with all students or for a 1:1 instructor to student ratio in ski school. Our hope is that Eldora will implement a program like many, many other ski resorts that help facilitate other responsible adults volunteering to ride with children (e.g, Mountain Ambassador programs, Ride With Me programs).

I’ve already witnessed two different incidents at Eldora where a fall occurred on the magic carpet and the lift operators did not stop the lift or notice the fall. Better training is a must.
