After seeing the widespread coverage of Give Day at the University of California, Santa Barbara, I believe that Denim Day should be a recognized Give Day for Sexual Assault prevention charities and resources, promoting programs and donations for sexual assault prevention. There is an abundance of on-campus resources that cater to sexual assault prevention and domestic violence awareness and giving them the space and recognition by the administration on the widely recognized "Denim Day" would provide them with the platform and ability to reach a wider audience and gain increased support with the UCSB's backing.

In calling upon the University of California, Santa Barbara to institute "Denim Day" as a Give Day on campus, I am calling upon UCSB's Office of Title IX and Sexual Harassment Policy Compliance for support in getting campus-wide and campus-affiliated recognition of Denim Day as a day of donation and awareness supported by the institution.

Give Day is the precedent that Demin Day aims to emulate by having a UCSB website with the affiliation of Denim Day, where people can directly locate and donate to institutions that are recognized, as is the case with Give Day. Additionally, Denim Day would be an event on campus, like that seen in a club fair, where organizations specifically supporting causes related to sexual assault awareness are promoting on campus, bringing eyes to the organization online and in person.

Denim Day is a worldwide day of support and awareness of sexual assault prevention and domestic violence awareness, seen on campuses all over the world as well as in government and the mainstream media. To bring institutional support by UCSB would be a major step forward and increase advantageous relationships between organizations on and off campus to make college safer for all.

This petition aims to call the University of California, Santa Barbara's Office of Title IX and Sexual Harassment Policy Compliance to support the establishment of "Denim Day" on campus by April 24th, 2026, creating a day of donation and awareness supported by the administration and the institution.

I have been spending so much time looking at how the official Give Day pages are structured because honestly if the university can dedicate that much infrastructure to other things they can absolutely spare a corner for sexual assault prevention resources. It is all so quiet from the administration side right now but I keep checking my inbox for any response while wondering if they know how many people are actually talking about this behind the scenes.
