Hello everyone, my name is Cassia and I'm a Junior. I've been working on a project through the Mental Health Advocacy Committee called the Coping Skills Project. The aim of the project is to make mental health coping skills more accessible to students by putting boxes in the bathrooms containing a booklet with easy to do coping skills for things such as panic attacks, self harm urges, etc. The box would also include things like single use ice packs and warheads which are used for certain skills. School admin and counselors will not let us put these in the bathrooms because they believe students should go to the counselors for any mental health issue, however as you may know there are issues with this. The counselors are not always available and it is a major inconvenience to walk to the counseling center during class especially if you're in the Gym, Allen-Gates, etc. We want to make mental health help more accessible by putting things in the bathrooms so students can get what they need quickly and easily. Sign this petition so we can make crisis counseling more accessible to Lakeside students.
