Make "bounty hunters" illegal in all states.
Bounty Hunters
Once they were a necessary evil. In the 1800’s and even in the early 1900’s, there was very little law enforcement. A marshal for several counties or and maybe a local sheriff in the largest towns. Even then, Bounty hunters were thought of as the scum of the earth. They were used to catch criminals that there just weren’t enough law enforcement personnel to take care of.
Now however, in 2014, we have countless agencies from Homeland Security on down charged with this task.
It would be a tough job just to name them all. Unless you had a flow chart in front of you, you would surely miss a few of them even if you were in law enforcement.
Law enforcement still puts a reward on criminals, but they only ask that you give information that leads to the arrest, or sometimes the arrest and conviction of the criminals.
Private Citizens (such as bonding agents) should never be allowed to hire other private citizens, (bounty hunters) to apprehend other people. This is a dangerous practice not only for the general public, but also for the bounty hunters.
No other business is allowed to use the tactics bounty hunters sometime use. This is the way the Chicago gangsters did things. Owe me money? I’ll send my thugs after you!
Banks, while they have to collect money owing to them, go through legal channels. All other loan facilities use legal avenues. Why then are bonding agencies allowed to use these “strong armed tactics” to collect their money?
There are countless stories on the internet where bounty hunters have gone to the wrong address, sometimes even in the wrong town, to catch someone that the residents at that address don’t even know. These bounty hunters receive little to no training and often are criminals themselves. Some of them illegally break into homes and use excessive force on the occupants.
Seldom are they held accountable for their actions because their victims think they are some kind of authority figure. They are NOT!
Recently I was outside my home at night in the pitch black and was assaulted by these so called bounty hunters. There were four of them. Only two of them were licensed a third was un-licensed and the fourth the bonding agency denies was there.
The two that was licensed were charged by the county sheriff, and I believe the third has been or will be charged by the state.
It’s time we make this practice illegal!
Please join me on my petition to stop this practice!
