The department finally announced that every patrol officer will now be assigned a partner. I am exhausted by the fight it took to get here but I am deeply relieved that our officers will be safer tonight. We will keep watching to ensure this policy is implemented correctly.

Final supporters
In the wake of the recent shootings and ambush style attacks on our Police officers across the country, Baltimore City police still have NOT made it mandatory for every street patrol officer to have a partner, or at least made it mandatory for most patrol officers to have assigned partners. We need to stand behind our law enforcement officers and ensure that our political leaders put their safety first, as we have seen other agencies across the country who has taken the iniative and have done.

The days feel long and the progress is steady but the weight of this work is definitely settling in. Even if you don't think having 2 police patrol could save lives, it's cheaper than having to pay out lawsuits because the single officer has no one there to back up his/her story. And what would you tell the spouses and children of police who died waiting for backup? That their loved ones' died so that Baltimore could save money?
Baltimore has been a violent city for years and BPD should have been in two man partner patrol a long time ago way before everything that's been going on. In the wake of these incidents and threats command still has not partnered their patrol units despite other major cities doing so and to me that's disgusting!
I dont speak english, but i tried writing correct. I'm retired Police officer in Puerto Rico island. The one officer in the patrol car is dangerous and insecure. Please considering that petition. Sorry for my english. God bless all.
As a soon to be police wife I strongly support this petition, as officers are targeted across the county, no one should be patrolling alone! Keep our men and women in blue as safe as possible by allowing them to work together to keep their heads on a swivel.
My mom is a police officer I shouldnt have to worry when she leaves for work that it might be the last time I see her. How can her safety be ensured if she doesn't have a partner watching her back. I want her to come home safely and that cant be guaranteed if shes out there alone!
It is safer for us thats all we have blue lives matter

Baltimore city is a high crime violent and drug area. An officer having a partner will allow immediate assistance which can help ensure officer safety and is highly recommended in my opinion.
