Breast milk is the perfect food for all the dietary and nutritional needs of infants for the first six months of life– no manufactured product can be compared with it. It also offers all the antibodies an infant needs to ward off dangerous and life threatening diseases. However, in Pakistan only 40% of mothers practice early initiation of breastfeeding within one hour of birth and only 38 % of mothers exclusively breastfeed their children.
One of the main reasons behind low breastfeeding rate in Pakistan is lack of enabling environment for breastfeeding at public places even there is no concept of specific space at most of the work places for breastfeeding mothers where they can take care of their child in a comfortably and safe environment.
We demand that breastfeeding corners and spaces be established at all public and private workplaces and public places like shopping malls, parks, airports, railway stations and hospitals etc.

Breastfeeding is very clearly encouraged in the Qur'an: "Mothers shall breastfeed their children for two whole years, for those who wish to complete the term" (2:233).
It was always practiced in our traditional culture. We are not doing them any favors, we will only revive the goodness of the past. It is a right of babies
At work place it should be strictly implemented by state & organizations to provide the safe & comfort spaces for lactating mothers and also dire need to fulfill the mothers nutritional deficiency for child. Week of sensitizing about the significant of breast feeding is endorsed
There is no substitute of breast milk, we need enforcement of Breast Milk Substitute Code and zero bottle feeding in our country
The development sector should take lead and all CSOs should establish breastfeeding corners in their premises and all services outlets.

Just corners...... Dont suffice.. Its an integrated comprehensive project Many such programmes initiated previously failed to sustain because the are not comprehensive
