The families of 25+ elementary school children (as young as Kindergarten age) living in the Oakridge subdivision are concerned that having our children walk to a bus stop that is out of the line of sight of ANY of our homes and without a clear/safe bus turn around is unacceptable. To ask very young children, some as young as 5 to cross unploughed sidewalks in freezing winter temperatures, and brave icy fall and spring rains is too much. We are asking for the following changes to the bus schedule and pick up/drop off locations:

  1. One pick up at the intersection of Allen Martin Parkway and Partridge Drive for families that live on Partridge Drive.
  2. One pick up at the corner of Laurel Drive and Indigo Lane for all Laurel and Indigo families.

This will not significantly impact scheduling and provides an easy turn around and a safe pick up location for our youngest school children. It will also avoid a large group of cars blocking Allen Martin Parkway because 25+ parents will feel the need to drive their children to the remote bus stop that is currently being proposed. All of these cars and children is an accident waiting to happen during a very busy time of morning.
