We need a crossing to ensure the safety of our children

This road is hazardous for pedestrians and drivers alike, particularly at the junction of Mill Lane. A safe crossing would be an enormous help.

This is a very fast road. We need some kind of safety crossing here as a concerned parent and road user of this route daily. Something needs doing before a more serious accident happens.

why does someone have to get hurt before something is done .This happened to me years ago in the same place ,it was the closest I ever came in my life to running over a boy that ran across the road .
Please fit a crossing before a child is killed R.M

A crossing would also give traffic the opportunity to get out of Mill Lane as it becomes so busy and people have to pull out quite quickly. Might also encourage parents to drop and let their child walk to school to reduce congestion along Mill Lane which I'm sure the residents would appreciate. Most importantly, children should be able to cross safely on their way to school - our children are provided with a bus service to get to school, those living within walking distance need to be catered for too.

Already we have seen on of the children at Chailey School hit by a car on the way to school just last week. I live in Chailey and despite being a school there is no crossing in the village and speed limit is 40 mph! Why is this when all speed training says that you so so more likely to kill a child is you drive over 30 mph? When in front of most schools the speed limit is 20 mph! People drive even faster than this anyway. There are nearly 1,000 children coming to chailey to school, they and their families deserve a slower speed limit and a proper crossing! Why isn't there one?!

With so many school children using this road on a daily basis and the amount of fast traffic at peak hours, it's another accident waiting to happen. A pedestrian crossing is a necessity on this road

The children have to look 4 ways at the junction whilst avoiding people cutting through the lay-by to avoid built up traffics

I don't live there but drive through regularly.
This needs to be done,to many accidents.
