Make a Deployed American Soldier's Request a Reality: Papa John's Pizzas
Shortly before Thanksgiving, my brother-in-law was deployed to Forward Operating Base Fenty, a facility adjacent to the Jalalabad airfield. The events that occurred on December 2,2012 were a clear reminder of the dangers our soldiers are exposed to at every moment of their deployments as well as the sacrifices that they bravely endure.
I sent my brother-in-law a message so that I could begin a community campaign to send he and his men a care package. His response to my message was very humbling as he only requested the following...
"You don't have to send anything. If you do it would be very greatly appreciated though!...I think the main thing I miss that is material would be some papa johns pizza. I know you can't get that sent over here, but when I get home I'm gonna get some. We don't really have much here from the outside world. We can get sodas and stuff at the cafeteria during chow, but other than that its just things people send. We all share our care packages here, so anything you send would be enjoyed by everyone I work with. Hope you job is going well! Take it easy."
I, therefore, am starting a petition so that my brother-in-law and some of the soldiers he was deployed with may enjoy a Papa John's pizza in Afghanistan. Papa Johns has honored a similar request in the past.
My brother-in-law and his fellow soldiers have at least another 8 months before they can arrive home to enjoy a Papa John's pizza. Please sign this petition and maybe we can bring a little bit of "home" to them.
