Final supporters
We, the undersigned, urge Davis County School District (DSD) to continue to give priority placement to siblings of dual immersion language students. We expect DSD to keep its promise--whether written or verbal--and uphold its precedent of automatic sibling enrollment.
Dual immersion language programs are a "family affair," and require the support and unity of the whole family. Automatic sibling enrollment ensures a robust and successful program, is a strength to language learning, and will help DSD maintain its dual immersion programs.
At the very least, we desire all families of students in a dual immersion language program to be grandfathered under DSD's current practice of automatic sibling enrollment.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped up to support these families. We are approaching a hundred signatures and the fact that you all cared enough to jump in leaves me speechless. If you can help us cross that mark today it would put us in a much better position when we sit down with the district.

I strongly support maintaining sibling preference for the dual immersion programs. Our school is currently year-round and removing this guarantee and risking having other children placed on different tracks would be a deal breaker for many families.
Family support is crucial to the success of these dual immersion programs. My older child helps my younger one with immersion homework that I can not. It's a great opportunity for them to build skills teaching each other.
The sibling preference strengthens family commitment to the school & program. Removing it will drastically increase the attrition rate, which will have a devastating effect on the program. Please leave the sibling preference in place.
We have made big life decisions, with significant downsides, based on the promise that all of our children would be automatically accepted into the mandarin immersion program. We are committed, we expect the district and school system to be committed to their initial promise.
We have four children in the immersion program: having siblings take together really enhances the experience. I see our older kids helping with homework. And they are starting to communicate with each other in Chinese, which is a great help!
Please let my son have the same opportunity as my daughter! He can't wait to start French in Kindergarten because his sister has been teaching him at home!
My younger children have a definite advantage from hearing Chinese in our home through their older siblings. It is wonderful that they bond and can help each other with their learning

I am a teacher in the immersion program and also have siblings whose children are in the program. I truly think that the commitment to an immersion program requires the whole family to make it as successful as possible for all children in the family.
