Art should not be cut! So much has been taken away from our kids this year... ART needs to stay! Art builds so many skills and tools that they will use in the future! It is a positive and creative outlet for them. During this time with everything going on, we need as many positive outlets as possible!

Art is therapy! Music is therapy! I have 2 children at RES and they absolutely love (and need) art class. They so look forward to the end of year art show. It gives them a great sense of accomplishment, confidence and joy. Please do not take this from them! Do not cut the arts!!

I am signing this petition because our children need the arts to nourish their souls and expand their creativity. There is also a tendency to underestimate the importance of the arts to brain development. Please do not cut these programs. Our children and grandchildren need the arts in their lives now more than ever.

Do not cut from the arts program! Art is a vital part of a child's ability to express his/herself. This will be especially critical when students return to school (in whatever form) in the fall given the experience they have endured with COVID-19.

This is not the time for cuts, especially to something as important to childhood development as the arts!

What are we doing, Ridgefield?? How are we still blind to the value of arts education? Especially now! Coronavirus has directly impacted ALL of our students. Throngs of elementary students will be returning to school in 2020-21 with an acute need for healing informed education. This is NOT the year to cut the arts, RPS. Let's get on board with what trauma informed and youth-centered educators have known for years: the arts play a critical role in helping young people (as well as grown ups) process and deal with trauma. We are so lucky to have awesome elementary art teachers. We need them now more than ever.

Now more than ever our children need a variety of ways to express themselves. Reducing the arts education only serves to hinder the emotional intelligence of our children. They are already struggling with so much change.

Art requires so much prep work and changes the face and climate of our school. There are other places that hurt kids less. Please search for other ways to cut.
