Singapore is a small country. We need to have a credible defense force to remain independent.
We have to rely on conscription. The current period of full time National Service for 2 years and reservist and remedial training is necessary to maintain our capability. The requirement cannot be shortened.
This obligation should be reserved for male citizens only.
I support maintaining the current arrangements for National Service.
