Please exclude TSBEP in HB 1501 proposed consolidation. The proposed changes could potentially be harmful to the profession of psychology and those receiving such services. Our profession requires an independent licensing board to uphold the unique standards and demands of the profession of psychology that are different from other mental health professionals. This proposed change would not be in the best service of the general population.

The integrity of our profession is a product of our independent governance. Taking that independence away would be huge loss to the field as a hard science, and as the leaders in mental health education, research, training, and clinical practice.

The only state that is currently doing this is Kansas and psychologists are leaving the state. Don't let this happen to Texas!

Please keep the TSBEP a separate Board. Our profession has different standards and demands than other mental health professionals, and needs to maintain a separate Board. Ours is well run and processing admin cases effectively.

Our profession is uniquely different from other mental health groups. Many licensing boards are in trouble, not handling their business effectively and efficiently. The answer in fixing this is not to bundle us and risk "dumbing down" the psychology board and sharing the problems of others. We are a unique, doctoral level profession (by history) and should be exempt from the HB 501 legislation.

This proposed change is not in the service of the general population, who need to trust their psychologists, LPAs, and LSSPs are licensed in accordance with APA guidelines and ethics rules.

TSBEP has operated successfully and independently for years, overseeing a standard of practice that is vital to consumers. Item 4's proposal to remove the licensing board and consolidate with other professions will have a significant negative impact on psychologists availability and ability to perform their jobs.

The profession of psychology needs a strong board which is representative of our profession. Please consider keeping the TSBEP intact as you consider the sunset provisions. Psychologists are different from other mental health providers!

Please exclude TSBEP in HB 1501 proposed consolidation. Doctoral-level psychologists should not be regulated by a majority of non-doctoral level professionals.
