I feel that they should have given us the opportunity to voice our opinion. It's just another way of taking our hard earned money. I don't like to be pressured into doing something that I am against.

The listing broker makes the choice to have technology on the doorknob to monitor who and when people get in a house, don't have to find a lockbox code & send out feedback requests. There are no real benefits to the buyer's broker. In is in.Most importantly, the lockboxes are a service to the listing broker making properties accessible, and keys without frustrations. It's up to the listing broker to make their listing accessible. What technology the listing broker chooses is up to them. The listing broker should be paying for this technology and allowing the other buyer's broker access.

Making this decision for us telling us how to run our business while digging into our pocketbooks was unfair. I feel we should have been informed and made part of the decision rather than having it shoved down our throat with no say. I vote NO on the new boxes.

Before electronic lock boxes were in use in Maine, we used mechanical ones for years and years with absolutely no problems. Arguement for electronics was so agents knew who was going in and when. Before electronic ones, we always knew anyway, as we had to either meet brokers/agents or give them the code. So that arguement is nill in my opinion. With mechanical if a contractor has to get in, no need to go thru the hassel of a one-day code. Few times an owner came and forgot his/her key, again, no hassel giving them the lock box code. In my opinion, electronic lock boxes are NOT a necessity. I've never used them and never will. If a realtor has one and I don't have the keycard, then that realtor will just need to meet me at the property if he/she wants to sell the house. I personally have a cell phone which does not have the fancy stuff such as apps (by choice) so cannot use that mode. Also doubling the price and other costs that go along with electronic boxes is way out of line. If you want to implement electronic boxes, then do it but with NO charges to brokers/agents. I'm totally against being forced to use electronic boxes and will never use them or sign up for a card.
