Dear friends:
As most of you are aware, a calamity has struck Amruta and the family. Mahesh has been convicted in court and is now awaiting sentencing which will be on July 26th. We believe Mahesh can never mean harm to any soul, he has always been gracious, helpful and charitable. Perhaps a little careless, not the best at reading people, and certainly hasty, but not what he has been accused of.
However, the fact remains that today, he stands convicted with no chance of appeal. His QC (lawyer) has told us that the maximum sentence is 12 years and that Mahesh could potentially get 8 years, of which he will have to serve 4 in prison and 4 outside. This is an unfathomable thought for all of us, but it could come true. Nothing in this saga has gone Amruta and Mahesh's way so far.
Before the sentencing occurs, I would like to make one last ditch effort for Mahesh, by appeal to the compassion of the judge and pleading her to shorten Mahesh's sentence as much as possible. To this end, I have drafted this petition to the judge. The more of his friends and family sign this petition, the more will be its force.
If you agree with what I have said, could you please electronically sign this petition. I will hand this over to Amruta with the hope that it will help Mahesh's case.

I really need everyone to send this link to ten other people because we are almost at five hundred signatures and that number has to be ready for the judge. Please stop what you are doing right now and just send a quick text or a post because my brain is spinning and we have to show that people actually care about what happens to Mahesh.

Mahesh Patwardhan is a gem of a person. Someone who is the most hospitable host and an extremely respected and highly qualified doctor. This means to harm his image and reputation is completely wrong. He deserves more support than what he already is receiving. This is only a small action on our parts.
Evaluate his entire work during his career and compare with open mind Get testimonials from all patients he felt till now and then decide
Dr. Mahesh is a great teacher and GURU, friend, excellent doctor and surgeon, caring father. My humble request to honourable judge is to please reduce his sentence to the least minimum.
Dr. Mahesh Patwardhan is a man of moral and good character. My humble request to court is to lower the sentence as much as possible based on his contribution towards the society by helping people for good causes (Eg: He raised funds for Anuj Bidve's family an Indian student who lost his life in Manchester in 2011).
I have known Mahesh for 45 years. He just can't harm anyone. I have seen him being charitable and very humane so many times, and that too without any hesitation. He is bubbling with high energy and that makes him hasty. I know him very well and he has not intended to harm anyone to suffer. I hope the goodness in British judge is able to weigh this. N. I have always known Mahesh Patwardhan as a clinician, surgeon, singer and a human being par excellence. Till the very last minute, he always said "I have faith in the legal system & I will come out clean". Classic example of an altruistic personality. He was always a kind person who would step forward and go an extra mile to help them. Garja Maharashtra Mazaa in 2012 was an evidence of the kind of charity this gentleman did for the family that lost their son. Charges framed against him are absolutely unbelievable and totally in contradiction to the kind of personality he is. I'm sure the Honourable judge will take a note of this and do his best. The medical fraternity has lost out on a good doctor. Let the family not be unreasonably penalised for holding a person guilty of an offence which he never committed.

I've known my brother for his entire life. I know he is innocent. Hope good sense and fairness prevails.
