celebrate International day of Non-Violence
Gandhi has been hailed as a modern spiritual leader and one of Time Magazine\'s people of the century. Gandhi has inspired many men and women of action including Julius Nyerere,Kenneth Kaunda, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, Dalai Lama, Aung San Suu Kyi,Lech Walesa and many other leaders. Gandhi\'s philosophy of peaceful resistance is both ideal and practical for today\'s life. The true essence of his philosophy begins with the way we conduct our daily lives and we treat our fellow human beings. This has immense impact on today\'s world of widespread hatred and bloodshed. We, the undersigned request the Honorable US Congress to take necessary action in celebrating October 2nd 2007 as the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF NON-VIOLENCE through education and public awareness programs such as seminars, exhibitions and commemorative stamps, as advised by the United Nation\'s 61st General body resolution on June 16th, 2007 sponsored by 142 countries.
