Please vote to change the exclusive admissions policy at Madani High School in Leicester, UK. Madani is a state funded Islamic faith school based in the multi-cultural city of Leicester. This year the admissions policy for the school changed. The policy now includes an incorrect definition of a Muslim and requires the applicant to complete a supporting letter to declare the school of Islamic Law to whom they belong, which will be used as an oversubscription filtering criteria. The definition of a Muslim as described in the policy is as follows: http://www.madanihigh.leicester.sch.uk Practising Muslim children and children of Muslim faith will be defined as: - Those children who believe in the oneness of God (Tawhid) - the finality of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him (P.B.U.H.) - respect all the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) - and follow one of the four recognised schools of Islamic Law (Hanafi, Shafi, Hanbali, Maliki) The final point in Madani's definition is incorrect. The declaration of a Muslim as prescribed by Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) is: "La illaha illallah Muhammad alrasoolallah" , "There is no God but Allah and Muhammed is His messenger". There is no reference or requirement to follow any school of Islamic Law. The policy is designed to promote the selection of an exclusive section of Muslims from the Leicester community. It is discriminatory and totally opposes the teachings of Prophet Muhammed (P.B.U.H) and the principles promoted in cosmopolitan Britain. Please vote to change the policy and align the definition of a Muslim with that of the declaration prescribed by the Prophet Muhammed (P.B.U.H.), removing the reference to any schools of Islamic Law.
